WHAT WE DID

The Grooveyard creative team worked with Special Olympics Ireland to devise a unique concept for the Opening Ceremony: Unite. Achieve. Believe. The creative planning process incorporated theming of the event, selection and recruitment of all main stage performers, development of the artistic programme along with the selection of all parade and street performers. Grooveyard provided an end-to-end event management solution for Special Olympics Ireland covering The People’s Park stage event and the preceding parade through Limerick City.

The scope of the project covered athlete, coach and family management for inside People’s Park, logistics and transport management, artist management for over 200 performers, AV, fabrication of the Special Olympics Cauldron, branding, crowd management, provision and supervision of licensed security, security fencing, services, first aid facilities, pyro technics displays, flame jets combined with the co-ordination and training of over 350 event volunteers.

RESULTS

This spectacular event opened the games with a bang, a high energy feel good party which helped to welcome the athletes and their families. It was a carnival of colour and fun which promoted the sporting competitions over the following days. We had a blast working with Special Olympics Ireland on this, and feel very proud to have been a part of such an awesome project.
